Before You Buy Tyres For Vehicle.. Read This

It's very essential to make a good decision when you buy tires. We have to tradeoff between price, durability, comfort and assurance to drive.

1. Measure

First, you need to identify the dimensions of your tyre. The following diagram will help you to clarify it. Get these readings from your tyre.

Then, you may look for a good tyre with the correct dimensions. You may increase the tyre size or reduce according to a calculation with the above values. But I don't recommend changing the default tyre sizes for things like improving ground clearance and etc. Default sizes are fine-tuned for best handling and fuel economy.

2. Brands & Price

Tyre price depends on many constraints. Brand, Mileage that the tyre can use, Profile of the tyre (width, aspect ratio, radial construction, load index, speed limits too) and special form of qualities.

There are many brands in the market. I will list some popular ones as follows

Premium Tyre Brands

Avon
Bridgestone
Continental
Sumitomo: some says its mother company of Dunlop.
Dunlop
Firestone
Goodyear
Hankook
Michelin
Pirelli
Uniroyal

The same tyre is manufacturing in 2 or more countries now. For example, Dunlop Japan and Indonesian. There are many misconceptions around. We will discuss..

If your budget is high you may go for Pirelli, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Goodyear etc..
If you have a low budget you may go for a Chinese brand like Landsail, Nankong etc.

Mid-Range Tyre Brands

BFGoodrich
Fulda
Marshal
Nankang
Toyo

e.g:

1. Low profile tyres which are more expensive. These tyres are broad but with less height (aspect ratio).

2. Run-flat tyres are very expensive.

A run-flat tire is a pneumatic vehicle tire that is designed to resist the effects of deflation when punctured, and to enable the vehicle to continue to be driven at reduced speeds - under 56 mph - and for limited distances - generally between 10 mi to 50 mi, depending on the type of tire

Tips for good Tire health
  1. Periodic Wheel Alignment Test
  2. Maintain good air pressure inside... Otherwise, it will lead to wear out edges of the tyre.
  3. All-terrain
